The Main Categories of the Dietary Supplement Market

Foundational / Fundamental supplements
The supplements that are commonly recommended both for general and sports purposes. Examples would include protein powder, creatine, and Omega 3 fatty acids.

Specialty Supplements
The supplements that are used for a specific purpose. Examples would include CLA, melatonin, and carnitine.

Lifestyle Supplements
The supplements that are not required but enjoyed by the individual. Examples would include citrulline or other ingredients in a pre workout formula.
