Weight Benches

A weight bench is a necessary piece of fitness equipment for almost any gym. Some may choose a basic utility bench, whereas others may want a perfect position FID bench with all the back and seat angles possible. So how do you know which workout bench is right for your fitness studio or home gym? First, you need to know the different benches that we have available.

What Types of Weight Benches Are There?

Each bench has its own unique features and specifications, but the four most common things people look for are:

Standard Weight Bench

A strong and sturdy flat bench is a good option for someone who wants to use their weight bench for a barbell bench press and as a seat. There are plenty of box gyms, home gyms, and health clubs that want a simple piece of gym equipment that feels rock solid when performing basic strength training exercises.

FID Adjustable Bench

An adjustable weight bench is the right choice for anybody who wants to perform bodybuilding exercises. If you want to perform incline curls, lateral raises, or decline fly’s. FID stands for flat bench, incline bench, and decline bench. Some benches we offer have one position for each, whereas others may have up to 6 different incline bench position options. Knowing which exercises you plan to perform will help you make the right decision about how many angles you need.

Folding Weight Bench

This feature doesn’t add more exercises to your arsenal, but it may give you the space you need to perform exercises where a bench would be in the way. The folding weight bench does exactly what it says, folds and then placed out of the way. While you may assume that the folding feature only works for a flat weight bench, there are actually several options available for a foldable FID bench.

Weight Bench Attachment

Some Olympic weight bench products we carry come with the option to add a preacher curl attachment and leg developer attachment. If you like to perform bodybuilding movements like the preacher curl, leg curl, and leg extension, this feature saves you from buying additional equipment, saving space in your garage gym.

Workout Bench Weight Capacity

One thing you will need to pay attention to is the amount of weight you plan to use with your weight bench. Each has its own weight capacity, and you will need to take your own body weight into account since you will lay on the bench. An Olympic bench may have a smaller weight capacity, such as 400 pounds, whereas others allow for a massive 1000 pounds. If you weigh 200 pounds and have a 300-pound bench press, for example, the 400-pound weight capacity option will not be sufficient for your needs.

Home Gym or Commercial Bench

Each of the benches that we offer comes with either a home gym, light commercial, or full commercial warranty. Understanding the warranty offered will give you an idea of the workout frequency a weight bench is intended to be used. It also tells you how long you can expect it to last. Many customers will opt for a light or full commercial bench in their home or garage gym. The reason they upgrade is because a commercial bench offers the weight capacity and sturdiness they need, and they appreciate that it is constructed of heavy-duty materials.
